Our brains help us do many important tasks every single day so we want to protect them whenever we can. The kids learned about bike and scooter safety this week during guidance. One of the most important safety tips is to wear a helmet when biking or scooting. Students learned the 2-V-1 rule for how to fit a helmet. The helmet should sit level 2 fingers above the eyebrows. The helmet straps should form a V under the ears. You should be able to fit 1 finger between the strap and your chin to ensure the helmet is snug and doesn't wobble on your head. If your child is in need of a helmet please contact the number below! Talk to your student(s) about what they learned and have them practice these safety rules at home.

Doniphan-Trumbull Public School is pleased to announce that Carrie (Larson) Kuhlmann has been appointed as the new Activities Director and Head Girls' Basketball Coach, effective this fall, pending board of education approval.
Kuhlmann, an accomplished educator with an extensive background in athletics and activities, will oversee the school's 17 activities and 12 athletic teams. She will also take the helm as Head Girls' Basketball Coach, building upon the foundation established by Coach Emma Thede, who stepped down to complete her school counseling degree. She will also teach dual credit education classes and officiating classes for students at D-T.
"We are thrilled to welcome Carrie and her family to our D-T Cardinal family," said Dr. Jeremy Braden, Superintendent. "Her exceptional leadership abilities, commitment to student success, and impressive background in activities make her the ideal candidate to lead our activities department and Girls Basketball Program."
Kuhlmann's journey began at Tipton High School, Iowa, where she participated in basketball, track, cross country, band, choir, speech, and National Honor Society. Her high school athletic achievements include qualifying for State Cross Country, being a 2004 State Champion Cross Country team member, and winning a state championship with the 4x800m relay team in 2005. During her high school basketball career, she amassed 1,248 total points.
Her basketball success continued at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, where she led her team to three conference and tournament championships, four NCAA tournament appearances, and two Sweet 16 appearances. Kuhlmann's collegiate accolades include All-American honors, All-West Selection, First Team All-Conference, and Conference Most Valuable Player. Under her leadership, her team achieved a remarkable 98-19 record over four years. She graduated in 2009 with a degree in Sports Administration and was subsequently inducted into the Simpson College Hall of Fame in 2019.
Her coaching experience includes positions as a graduate assistant at Hastings College, assistant varsity coach at Johnston (Iowa) HS, and basketball at Hastings MS.
