Dear Parents and Guardians,

You may have recently received information regarding a class action settlement related to the PowerSchool data breach. We understand that some families have questions about whether they should participate. D-T uses Infinite Campus for all student data, but utilizes Schoology as a Learning Management System at the high school level. PowerSchool is the parent company for Schoology.

The decision whether to participate in the settlement is entirely up to each family. There is no obligation to submit a claim or participate. However, there is generally no downside to doing so. Participating families may be eligible to receive compensation related to the unauthorized disclosure of student information. That said, there is no guarantee of any compensation or recovery. If no compensation is ultimately available, submitting a claim results in no recovery.

The District is not recommending for or against participation and cannot provide legal advice regarding the settlement. We simply want families to know that participation is a personal decision, and each family should determine whether participating is appropriate based on its own circumstances.

If you have questions about the settlement itself, please refer to the information provided in the notice you received.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeremy Braden

Superintendent
