No One Tackles Cancer Alone

FCCLA raises money for a cause

The Doniphan-Trumbull FCCLA team helps raise awareness for cancer by selling bracelets for $1. On September 12, the FCCLA team worked together to raise money by selling food, drinks, and bracelets during the DT football game.

“Our Tackle Cancer event involves selling bracelets and working in the concession stand to raise money for those dealing with cancer. Our contribution is generally donated to a local family affected by cancer or to the Grace Foundation in Grand Island,” said Mrs. Lisa King, the head of FCCLA.

After receiving all the support and donations, the FCCLA team raised $500, which will be donated to those in need.

“I think Cancer awareness is important because Cancer is such an urgent issue that doesn't get enough attention. So, for FCCLA, we hope to bring that awareness, even if it is just a small impact,” stated junior FCCLA officer Hailey Hoffman.

Some common areas where cancer patients need financial support are groceries, medical bills, and mental health resources. Through fundraising and raising awareness, the DT FCCLA supports families in need.

“Fundraising for cancer is important because cancer treatments are so expensive; it's nice to have a helping hand. Especially since nobody asked for cancer to bombard them, and they need to know that there are people who support them,” said FCCLA officer, junior, Brielle Bruns.

Everyone can show their support by donating to the Grace Foundation.
