DT students gather in the commons on Wednesday, August 20, to learn about the various clubs available at the second annual Student Organization Expo. The goal of this event is to increase student involvement in extracurricular activities.
Many Leaders at the expo expressed their excitement and eagerness that students of all ages will consider joining and learning about their organizations, including Senior STUCO member Emma Hoppe.
“This event gets more students involved in school activities. It's good to be involved because it makes the school a better place,” said Hoppe.
At the expo, clubs set up booths to recruit students. Even organizer Mrs. Laural Rader hopes that students discover more about the opportunities available to them and find new ways to be involved on campus. She wants students to feel motivated to step out of their comfort zones and try new things.
Freshman Kinsley Gehle stated, “There were so many options to pick from, making it a very educational experience for me.”
Multiple clubs were present at the Student Organization Expo, including FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, EdRising, HOSA, and Student Council.
Sophomore Myiah Antle expressed that, “At first it was crowded, but then you wanted to be involved in everything once you learned about all the extracurricular activities.”
Being involved in school activities creates a better environment by encouraging teamwork and participation among peers, leading to a more connected school community.
