Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to inform you about a vital resource available this summer to help ensure your children can access healthy meals. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides free meals to children 18 years and younger when school is out for the summer.
While Doniphan-Trumbull Public School will not be a summer meal site this year, several locations in neighboring districts will offer the SFSP. A list of the nearest summer meal sites, including addresses, meal times, and dates of operation, is enclosed with this letter.
The summer meals are free to all children 18 and under, with no registration, income requirements, or other qualifications required. Kids and teens can simply show up during the listed meal times to receive their free breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner, as applicable by the site.
I encourage you to take advantage of this valuable program to help keep your children well-nourished all summer. Nutritious meals are critical for learning, health, and development during the long summer vacation.
If you have any questions, please call our school office at 402-845-2282 or contact Shawna Williams (swilliams@dtcardinals.org) or Trisha VanDiest (tvandiest@dtcardinals.org). You can also visit the program finder website at https://www.fns.usda.gov/summer/sitefinder or call the National Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE for locations near you.
Have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeremy Braden
Superintendent
