Welcoming New Foreign Exchange Students

DT welcomes someone new

The beginning of a new year brings in a new group of exchange students, including Ben Cimander a 14-year-old from Coluki, Germany.

Ciamander is living with the Jenny, James, Broady, and Rylan Eberle family, who were happy to take him into their home.

“They were welcoming when I came to live with them,” said Ciamander.

Cimander became a foreign exchange student because his dad and both of his uncles were foreign exchange students too. His uncles were foreign exchange students in 2017 and his dad in 1999.

“I like Nebraska, but I’m glad that there are some little things different from Germany,” said Cimander.

In Germany, Cimander school has no technology, and they have to take paper and pencil notes. The students do classes just like we do here at DT where they have to move from classroom to classroom. Not only that but the teachers interact with the students just like they do at DT.

“I miss Germany, but Nebraska has one thing on Germany. Being able to use technology during the school day,” said Cimander.

Cimander is looking forward to having fun during the school year. One other thing he is looking forward to is Christmas this year. He thinks that it will be different than how they celebrate Christmas in Germany. Also, he’s looking forward to seeing how different they are. Another thing is Cimander is looking forward to wresting here at the school because he likes to wrestle.
