DT Welcomes Scott Sjuts as Maintenance manager
By: Jaden Williams
DT has a new but familiar face to welcome to the nest. The district has hired a new maintenance manager, Mr. Scott Sjuts, who reported for duty on Oct. 25.
Sjuts has a long history with DT, as his whole family is now in the building. His wife, Mrs. Nikki Sjuts, is the secondary counselor, and the couple has two sons, Harrison who is a sophomore and Preston who is an 8th grader.
Sophomore Harrison Sjuts said, “It is nice to have the whole family in the same building and working around the same schedule.”
Sjuts took this job because he has been tied to the Cardinal family for over 20 years and has always enjoyed construction projects, fixing things and managing people.
Sjuts stated, “This position will let me be more connected to the communities and also to do so many of the things I enjoy on a daily basis.”
The position of the maintenance manager is responsible for supervising the building, maintenance and grounds. Essentially this position is responsible for supervising the physical property of the school and making sure that the learning environment is safe, clean and ready for the students and staff.
Secondary principal Mrs. Michaela Goaracke said, “I am excited to have Mr. Sjuts join the Cardinals team! He is going to be a real asset for us here. He has a lot of great ideas for organization and planning that we are going to be able to benefit from. He has a wealth of experience in all kinds of different areas that will help in his new position, which requires flexibility and ‘know-how.’”
Sjuts had worked for the Taco Bell franchise for the past 27 years before taking his new position. He was a store manager for 15 years, and for the last 12 years, he has been in charge of 7 stores as the district manager
Sjuts said, “I am very excited to start my job in supporting the great maintenance and janitorial staff at DT! I know first-hand that DT is a great school system, and I am looking forward to doing my part to make it even better.”

Mr. Sjuts and John Killion unload a box of paper towels and put them on a shelf.
