Body image and self-confidence are challenging topics for many people. Men and women are constantly comparing themselves to unrealistic expectations and judging themselves on extreme levels. Negative body image plays a huge role in self-doubt and low self-esteem. To counteract these negative thoughts, constant reminders that you are worthy and that every body is beautiful is a great way to help others who are struggling with self-confidence. Here is a list of 10 tips that can help you improve your body image.

 

  1. Practice positive self-talk each morning: "You are enough!" Find one thing you like about yourself and compliment yourself on it - "Look at those beautiful blue eyes!"

  2. Avoid comparing yourself to others, in life or on social media: Photoshop is a real thing! Instead of comparing yourself give yourself a compliment- “She has a toned stomach, but I have beautiful curves.”

  3. Practice a self-care day, take a bath, do a facemask, get a massage: Take time to relax from your stressful day and clear your mind. Warm up your bath, throw in a bath bomb and watch your favorite TV  series after a long hard day.

  4. Try a new hobby to occupy your time: Try yoga, take a hit at crocheting, or start a new book series. There are plenty of hobbies you can pick up, your first try may not succeed, but find something that interests you!

  5. Make a list of 5 things you like about yourself: “I love my hair and the way it looks when I leave it natural!”, “My lashes are so healthy and long! I love how they look with and without mascara!” or “I love the way my eyes look in the sunlight.”

  6. Spend time with positive people who motivate you: Negative people can be so harmful so surround yourself with people who are uplifting and want to see you succeed.

  7. Wear comfy clothes that look good on you: Every body type has a style that looks good on you, go shopping, try on some new clothes, and get creative with your new 2021 wardrobe! 

  8. Unfollow people that you compare yourself to and delete social media platforms that are toxic: If your Instagram feed is making you insecure and you keep comparing yourself to unrealistic models, delete the app or unfollow those people. After you’ve tried all these tips and are feeling great about your body there is no problem with getting back on the app and starting a motivational platform to help others! 

  9. Try a new healthy diet to start a healthy lifestyle: It’s 2021 try something new! Take a look at a meal plan or meal prep diet you’ve seen on TV, try a juice cleanse, or something as simple as eating a smoothie once every morning. 

  10. Remember that beauty is not just appearance: Beauty comes within as well as the exterior. Having a kind heart and a helpful attitude gives you so much more beauty than your appearance!
