Cardinals flock to Pep Rally

Community celebrates kick-Off of fall sports

By Samuel Hoppe

The aroma of delicious hamburgers and hotdogs filled the air at the annual Booster Club Pep Rally, held at the football field on Monday, Sept. 5th. Despite being rescheduled due to recent flooding, it was a successful community event, with all of the fall sports teams making an appearance. It was a much-needed distraction from all the flooding devastation and clean up effort. It was a time for this small community to rally around their favorite sports teams.

Senior Griffin Hendricks, a member of the football team said, “We really appreciate the community supporting all of the fall sports.”

The purpose of the Pep Rally is to promote and support fall sports and activities. Booster Club president, Jodi Sadd, took the opportunity to introduce all of the fall sports teams. The highlight of the evening is always the passing of the microphone to the senior team members. It is their chance to thank the crowd and pump up their team.

Senior football team member Riley Carpenter said, “I look forward to the pep rally every year. As a senior, this year was more special. I am excited to see what our team can do.”

The DT Dance team gave a live performance to get the audience involved. They danced to “Burn It Up” by JFK, a pom mix. Students showed off their Cardinal spirit with wacky black and red gear.

The student-athletes have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into preparations for their fall seasons, so it’s great to get the opportunity to celebrate the start of the year and the beginning of the new season as a community.

“It’s a really great event because everyone comes out and shows their support for the fall activities,” senior Maddie Smith said. “Seeing a huge crowd come to the pep rally makes me really excited for the even larger crowds coming to games each week.”
