Off to a Running Start
Cross Country Gibbon Invite
The Doniphan-Trumbull cross country teams competed in the Gibbon Invitational Thursday. Erica Lienemann led the girl’s team with an 11th place medal. Sarah Dinan also ran well.
Top finish for the boy’s team was made by Riley Taylor.
Among the six high school runners, Erica was the only one who had ever run in a high school meet. There were a lot of butterflies in stomachs before the races. But once the athletes started running, things were better.
It was a good day to run. The weather was much nicer than what the team had endured during their weeks of practice.

Their next meet will be at the Loup City Invite next Thursday. The boys will run at 5:30 followed by the girls and Jr. High.
The Jr. High had a good showing at the Gibbon meet. Lexi Hoffman finished 1st for the girls. Emily Rowe ran well in her first meet.
Blake Ballard, Payton Ruhter and Sam Atchity were all awarded ribbons for placing in the top 15.
