DTHS Welcomes Exchange Students

Two new exchange students grace the halls of DTHS.

Beatrice originates for Rome, Italy and this is her second visit to the US.  About 4 years ago she was able to explore New York.  She is staying with the Hinrichs family and says she was pretty nervous arriving in Nebraska, but when she saw the family she felt better because they really looked nice.  Doniphan will be home to Beatrice for a mere six months and then back to being a senior in Italy.  Check out the volleyball team and see if can spot her.  So far Beatrice's favorite American foods are Oreos and brownies.  She has noticed that in Italy they eat healthier food and more ways to dress, but Americans are friendly and kind and the teachers make learning fun and are very helpful.  One item she would like to purchase before she leaves is a prom dress.  She will make a great princess.

A tall strapping young man, Alvaro, hails from Spain.  His first impression of his host family, John and Melinda Sullivan, was that they were nice and quite funny.  He has never been to the USA and as a sophomore he gets to stay with us for nine months.  While here Alvaro hopes to polish his English a bit more. He has noticed that there are definitely more fast food places here in America and that the teachers in Spain move from room to room, not the students. Hamburgers are Alvaro's favorite food and before he leaves he would really like to purchase an Iphone.

Take a minute or two and say hi to these great students, welcoming them to DTHS.
